oldest credit union in Austin
Formed in 1931 by postal employees and originally named Federal
Employees Credit Union, GEFCU is Austin's oldest credit
union. It is also one of the oldest financial institutions based in
Austin that remains independent and locally owned. Membership has
grown to more than 12,000 members.
Lifetime membership
At GEFCU, once a member you are always a member. That means a
lifetime of competitive products, unbiased information, and
unmatched personal service. Rates, dividends, lending policies, and
other business matters are regularly decided upon by an elected,
local, all-volunteer Board of Directors.
